President Javier Milei is set to make an appearance in New York City from March 9 to 11, where he will be the featured guest at “Argentina Week.” This prominent investment roadshow is designed to strengthen Wall Street’s backing for his economic agenda and draw in new capital. Milei, 55, has extended an invitation to a cohort of Argentina’s provincial governors to convene in Manhattan, aiming to showcase political unity following recent legislative support from allied blocs in Congress. Eight provincial governors have confirmed their participation: Alfredo Cornejo, Ignacio Torres, Marcelo Orrego, Claudio Vidal, Rolando Figueroa, Raúl Jalil, Carlos Sadir and Gustavo Sáenz, according to reports. Rogelio Frigerio from Entre Ríos and Osvaldo Jaldo from Tucumán have both opted out due to scheduling conflicts.
According to Perfil, the majority of provincial leaders are set to cover their own travel expenses while being anticipated to participate in the complete schedule of official events. The highlight of the event will be a speech delivered by Milei on Tuesday, March 10, at the JPMorgan Chase headquarters, with CEO Jamie Dimon set to introduce him. The President is set to detail Argentina’s new economic framework under his administration and its strategic repositioning amid a changing geopolitical landscape. Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno is set to present under the title “Argentina and the United States: Unlocking strategic investment in a new geopolitical configuration.” A panel featuring Argentina’s Ambassador to Washington, Alec Oxenford, alongside the US Ambassador in Buenos Aires, Peter Lamelas, will delve into the intricacies of the bilateral partnership.
Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Central Bank Governor Santiago Bausili are set to address attendees at Bank of America the next day, where they will outline their monetary policy and capital markets strategy. Deregulation & State Transformation Minister Federico Sturzenegger and Economic Policy Secretary José Luis Daza are set to engage with investors, while Health Minister Mario Lugones is slated to take part in discussion groups. The upcoming events are set to convene over 30 chief executives from prominent global companies, such as Chevron, Dow, Pfizer, Rio Tinto, and Baker Hughes, in addition to Argentine corporate leaders from YPF, Pan American Energy, Mercado Libre, and Globant.
A central component of the proposal will be Milei’s RIGI major investment incentive regime, which the administration views as crucial for facilitating long-term projects in the mining and hydrocarbons sectors. Officials are set to engage in discussions with US economic authorities, representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce, and members of international financial institutions. The programme kicks off on Monday, March 9, featuring a reception at Argentina’s Consulate in New York, hosted by Cabinet Chief Manuel Adorni. The event is set to culminate in a ceremony at Microsoft’s offices, where Caputo will honor the “RIGI champions” – those companies that have taken the initiative to engage in projects under the new framework.
