Miami is Milei’s global summit destination with Trump and Messi

Javier Milei is set to return to the United States this week to participate in a global summit in Miami, where he will be among notable attendees such as national football team captain Lionel Messi and US President Donald Trump. This marks the 14th visit to the United States for the President since assuming office in December 2023. He is set to leave Buenos Aires on Wednesday (November 5) following the swearing-in of Manuel Adorni as his new Cabinet chief at the Casa Rosada, an event planned for midday. Milei is among several prominent individuals anticipated to participate in the America Business Forum at the Kaseya Center in Miami, scheduled for November 5 and 6. Prominent individuals from various sectors, including politics, business, sports, and culture, are set to attend, featuring Trump, Messi, Rafael Nadal, Jamie Dimon, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

Milei is scheduled to appear at the event at 3:45 PM on the second day of the event. He is set to be publicly introduced by Bret Baier, and there is a possibility that he will grant an interview. Government sources indicate that Milei will be joined on his trip by Presidential Chief-of-Staff Karina Milei and newly appointed Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno. To date, no meeting has been agreed upon with Trump. The two individuals are scheduled to speak at the summit on separate days. Diplomatic sources have suggested that “the possibility remains open”, contingent upon Trump’s availability and any last-minute arrangements.

The journey underscores the political and strategic partnership between Milei and Trump amid prevailing global trade tensions and geopolitical strife. In recent months, bilateral coordination has encompassed financial assistance aimed at stabilizing Argentina’s currency and markets, alongside negotiations for a commerce and tariff-free trade agreement, the formal announcement of which is still awaited. The collaboration between both administrations highlights a growing alignment in economic ideology and foreign policy outlooks, further reinforcing Milei’s image as one of Trump’s closest international allies within Latin America.

Following his time in Miami, Milei is anticipated to return to Buenos Aires prior to his journey to Bolivia for the inauguration of president-elect Rodrigo Paz. This continued diplomatic engagement signals Argentina’s attempt to assert a stronger role within the region while deepening ties with both the United States and neighboring countries. Milei’s packed travel schedule underscores his administration’s emphasis on restoring Argentina’s international standing and fostering strategic partnerships that could bolster the nation’s economic recovery and political stability.
